Bath is a city and World Heritage Site in Somerset, England. Often considered one of England's most beautiful visitor destinations, it combines a wealth of natural and historic attractions which draw visitors the world over. An ideal way to explore the city is to start by choosing your accommodation at a Bath hotel.

Situated just 100 miles west of London the city offers a retreat which is a world away from the big city. Accommodation options are plentiful, from the most elegant and historic hotels to the cosy and friendly bed and breakfast.

The story of the city has many chapters and all are based around the use of natural hot springs which give the city its name. First came the Romans who so loved the hot springs they founded the early city around them.

The architecture of the city is a testament to that historical importance, reflecting the very finest examples of architectural styles of the respective eras in the city's history.

Accommodation in the city is comprised, almost exclusively, of high quality and luxury. Often fine period Georgian houses tastefully converted to accommodation venues. Each Bath Hotel will offer large rooms, high ceilings, luxurious bedding and are of course en-suite facilities. Many are also well equipped for the modern traveler. This is an upmarket place and the hotels are usually equipped with the latest wifi technology for internet access.

The city is one of England's greatest tourist draws due to its location near London but also because of the deep history dating back to Roman times. There are more fine Georgian accommodation options in this city than anywhere else in the UK, so whichever property you choose are unlikely to be disappointed.

And then there is what this city has become so famous for, its excellent spa facilities. Spas are most commonly associated with hotels and the city forms as much of a perfect backdrop to spa services and activities as it did when the Roman first recognised its potential. It is no longer possible to do as the Romans do when it comes to relaxing in the natural hot springs at the Roman Bathhouse but all that has changed is the venue.

Choosing where to stay is made easier given the quality and range of excellent Bath hotel accommodation available in the city and immediate surrounds. Self-catering options in Bath offer the freedom to come and go as you please.

Holiday apartments, holiday cottages, and other holiday lets are available, both within the city and the surrounding Somerset countryside. Other self catering options include a number of backpackers hostels, and camping or caravanning in the nearby camping sites, many of which offer a range of additional outdoor activities.

In addition to accommodation, a popular option for visitors is one of the many bed and breakfast guest houses on offer. These are often housed in the city's most stunning buildings and as well as a hearty breakfast provide comfortable welcoming accommodation and a wealth of local knowledge to help plan your day's events in the city. There are traditional Inns too in the city and surrounds which offer bed and breakfast and often the option of an evening meal in a classic country pub environment.

For those who prefer a certain standard of luxury and service there are many options, some of which offer four and five star luxury and others which include all the amenities and activities of a country house, such as golf, fishing and horse riding. Others are authentic boutique hotels, set in magnificent town houses or other distinguished buildings and yet more are travel or budget venues, ideal as a cost effective Bath hotel option. Whichever accommodation you choose, the city awaits.
